Fixed Return Portfolio
The portfolio is designed to offer clients upside participation in the markets with lower principal risk when the bonds are held to maturity. Many of the principal bond underwriting firms offer fixed income structured products which offer investors the opportunity for partial to full principal protection for the principal. In return for the principal protection, the investor gives up some of the potential upside gains in the underlying security.

For example, an investor can buy a 24 month bond based on the S&P 500 Index. The investor receives 2X the upside gains, if any, at the end of 24 months with a maximum 20% return. If the S&P is down at the end of 24 months, the investor's principal is protected against the first 10% of losses. The principal is particularly protected for participation in the equity markets. There are many different structures and underlying assets for these types of products. The portfolio managers select investments that will offer clients participation in the equity markets with less principal risk than direct investment in the market itself.

This portfolio is built with primarily individual structured products that offer limited upside participation in underlying indices, equities, currencies, and/or commodities in return for limited to full downside principal protection.

This portfolio is managed according to our core philosophy to offer partial to full principal protection in the portfolio while participating in the markets. It is not a diversified portfolio across different asset categories within the various market segments. It is intended to work in conjunction with the core portfolio and other building blocks.
